Soups are the foundation of any Chinese meal. Soups are usually based on a stock base and contain vegetables, meat, and seafood.

A typical stock base is made with chicken bones, beef bones, pork bones, vegetables, and seasoning. The stock is then simmered for at least 3 hours, which infuses the flavor of the base into the soup.

While soups can be served hot or cold, they are typically warm.

The main dishes are generally stir-fried, steamed, or fried. Rice, noodles, or other words may accompany them.

Side dishes are often steamed, boiled, fried, or cooked with spices.

Sides are typically served as a vegetable side dish or as a dessert.
